Well Hello, Lovelies! It’s Spring and my closet is definitely needing an update! Last Spring I didn’t buy much and honestly, my kids needed clothing more than me. This year they didn’t listen and continued to grow so they will still need clothes as I’m sure yours will as well BUT, we have to take care of ourselves too and honestly, some of my goto items are looking pretty rough so I need to update those staples and of course I am a sucker for new trends!
I love trendy items in my closet but, I try not to overdo it because again, they are trends. I also make sure that they fit within my style otherwise, I won’t wear them. For example, I LOVE the Pant Jumpsuits that I am seeing on all these gorgeous fashion bloggers and I actually think this trend will stick around for awhile. I tried a few of these on for Easter and ALMOST bought one but decided not to. Why!? It didn’t really look good on me nor did I feel good in it, I was drawn to it because I loved everyone else in it but, I dodged a bullet because it was far from flattering on me! It’s important that you feel good in whatever you purchase. Are you excited for Spring shopping but still feeling those Winter Blues? This will help!
So, I wanted to find the Spring Trends that I feel are easy to add to your wardrobe and that I genuinely think ANYONE can wear! I have been researching the Fashion Trends for Spring 2018 and some are REALLY not my thing so they will be easy to pass up (ie. rubber dresses). Others, I love and will absolutely wear! Again, I am really trying to keep you and your busy lifestyle in mind. So while there are other great spring trends out there, I am sticking to practical, easy, cost-efficient and versatile.
My advice when looking for a couple trendy pieces, have fun and experiment. Don’t knock ’em til you try ’em! I actually went shopping this weekend thinking there was no way I could wear gingham or ruffles and walked out with both! WIN!
Below I have added a couple items in each trend and I tell you how I would wear them or how I am wearing them. My style is fairly casual and easy but I like to look put together. I am also adding items from stores I ACTUALLY shop at. I want to keep this simple for everyone because none of us have a ton of time right!?
CHECKS AND GINGHAM
Okay, I am a big fan of Rompers (although I can’t wear them all) AND a HUGE fan of “off the shoulder” you know what else I am a fan of? THIS PRICE! Old Navy is great for that and in my opinion, this Romper is PERFECT for spring! I would wear it exactly as styled and since it is a neutral color, any sandal can work. Also, bring a denim jacket for chilly days. I would wear this anytime but think it’s perfect for weekend shopping or lunch with a friend.
The City Shirt at Express is such a classic! They have it in Gingham and also in gray gingham. I love the city shirt but, I have the problem of gaping buttons. Yeah, you know what I mean, HATE THAT! So my tip, use fabric tape between your buttons OR if you’re feeling a little fancy, wear a lace bralette. That makes the look perfect for date nights. I would wear this seriously ANYWHERE and with a slimmer pant or jean, nice shorts would work as well. I would wear strappy heels to dress it up or booties to dress it down.
PANTONE ULTRA VIOLET Lavender | Lilac | Purple
Lavender is BIG this season! Actually, pastels as a whole really are so if pink, yellow or baby blue are more your thing, rock those. I am loving this dress and it comes in several different colors. They are calling it a bodycon dress but the ruching helps to bring flattery to everyone. Also, I don’t love my arms if they aren’t tan so I would throw on a moto jacket or denim jacket with booties to dress it down or a Kimono (see below) with heels to dress it up. I would also wear anywhere, it just really depends HOW I am wearing it.
PASTELS AND SHEERS
Not only is lavender huge this spring, so are pastels as a whole! With the sneaker trend being so popular as well, I had to throw in a pair of those for you to think about. Pastels are so great with almost every neutral so they are super easy to wear. Use jewelry and shoes to dress them up or down.
FLORAL AND ROMANCE
Floral is not necessarily new but what is new is all the romantic details they are adding to it. Big sleeves, lace details, ruffles galore. It is all so feminine and romantic. The Kimonos above are all so romantic and can easily be dressed up or down. I personally prefer the shorter ones but these long ones are gorgeous so I plan on buying one soon. I would wear these as shown or more typically with a tank dress and sandals. I really think that you have to keep the rest of your outfit a little slimmer since these are so flowy.
I am also adding a couple floral rompers /dresses with romantic details that are SUPER easy to throw on with heels, sandals or booties and can really be dressed up or down with any jacket including a blazer! I have a feeling that these will be my go-to for spring and summer and they are EVERYWHERE so you will not have a shortage.
STRIPES
You know what I love about stripes? They are super classic and you all have them in your closet! My favorite way to wear them is probably as a button down like the photo above. Depending on the materials they can be super casual over a bathing suit or with shorts and a tank or, perfectly dressed up with slacks or nice jeans and heels for work or date nights.
BELT-BAG (Not your Mom’s Fanny Pack)
Now this trend, I am thinking about. Since I remember everyone rocking the Fanny Pack when I was younger, this one is tough for me. With that being said, I am not huge bag fan (I carry a wristlet) AND they make SO MUCH SENSE! They are seriously practical, especially for us Busy Moms! SO, what are your thoughts on the Belt Bag?
Alright ladies, make sure that you are pinning this later so you can come back to it when you go shopping AND let me know your thoughts, will you be rocking any of these this Spring? What about the Belt Bag?
