So, are you one of those lucky ladies with gorgeous long and healthy wash and go hair? No? ME EITHER! Man, if that is you, I am definitely envious! I tell you what though, I am surrounded by those lucky ladies. Have you seen my daughters? Who did they get their amazing hair from? Likely my sister or my cousin or my mom or my aunts, definitely not me. A lot of my besties all have long, amazing, healthy hair as well! Super lucky gals I tell ya!
Then there is me. I was born with my Fathers super curly (frizzy) hair cute as a kid but that faded fast(although my mom would disagree). Let’s fast forward through the massive frizz of horrible school pictures to my Junior year of High School. My friend introduced me to her hairdresser that told me he could straighten my hair. Not only did he straighten my hair, he gave me the Jennifer Anniston “Friends” haircut! As a Junior in High School, this man was seriously like a god to me! I just couldn’t believe it!
Little did I know….
This whole trend was going to blow up and eventually on top of all the blowouts, I would soon be using a flatiron on my hair almost daily! Ugh, my already dried out, color treated, curly, thin Colorado hair went through some years of struggle and then having kids and later being starting meds for hypothyroidism, forget about it! I am brutal on my hair and it’s amazing that it still sticks around! No wonder it never grows past my shoulders (you too? Well, catch the rumor I heard at the bottom of this post).
Now I will say that you ladies are amazing, I have loved the sweet comments and messages you have given me about my hair! You are seriously the best and you know what, over the past few years I feel like I have figured it out and I actually really like my hair! I even love my curl, mainly the body and shape it gives me but it’s also okay on the occasion I decide to wear it curly.
It has been a process but here’s what I have learned….
Invest in your hair! Find a great hairdresser that you trust. Look around at friends or even local strangers with awesome hair. Ask them where they go and make an appointment. Also, I stop buying cheapy products. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good ones out there but they are hard to find and I still think the good ones are just okay. I have learned that you can have an awesome cut/color but without great products, it will look very little like the photo you brought in to your hairdresser. I know, it all gets expensive but you know what, the time and money you spend on hairdressers and products that are just okay are not making you happy and just wasting your money.
So, I have mentioned before how I have a great hairdresser and I even have a great backup hairdresser for when I can’t get into mine. As far as products go, right now I am REALLY loving Kerastase. I do use a couple other products on occasion that are not Kerastase but these ones I use daily. It’s what they use in my salon and my hair is pretty happy with it. I also love that these products last FOREVER! 6 months to a year for my shoulder length hair.
First, since I am so hard on my hair, I use a protectant EVERY DAY. I have both Nectar Thermique and Ciment Thermique but I like Ciment Thermique a bit more for frizz and damage but both are great. I use either or as my first step.

Next, my styling products. Okay my hairdresser introduced me to L’incroyale Blowdry Lotion
and although it is pricier, I REALLY love it! Not only does it offer a bit more protectant, my frizz-free style looks great all day and requires way less styling before my next wash. If you aren’t ready to drop that, I also really like Creme De La Creme. It is a lightweight medium hold creme that keeps my style in shape. If I ever wear my hair curly, natural or adding curls to my blowout, I use Spray A Porter. It’s a flexible hold salt spray and keeps my curls soft and bouncy. My daughter also steals it and scrunches it in for her waves. Works on wet or dry hair. It’s good stuff and doesn’t damage my hair.

I have to admit that I have not bought Kerastase Shampoo and Conditioner yet because I am going through my liters of Pureology and Living Proof which are good but, I am excited to try Kerastase and since I love their other products so much. If you are still looking for a new shampoo or conditioner, I have one to recommend! I have heard some really great things about their Specifique Line for thinning hair. Do you remember me mentioning my sister with amazing hair? Well, she still has amazing hair but after my second nephew, it wasn’t the same. She has been using this line and really likes it!

Specifique Line for thinning hair
When I finish up my liters soon, I will definitely be trying this Specifique line. I have my thyroid under control but, I am still hard on my hair that is naturally thin anyhow so I think I’ll love it! If I don’t, there is going to be another option that I am SUPER excited about!
The Rumor is….
That Kerastase is coming out with a line that will help you reach your long hair goals. As soon as I hear more I will definitely let you know, let’s keep our fingers crossed that it’s not a rumor! Keep an eye on my Instagram and here for an update!
While you are waiting though, up your hair game and grab some of these products! If you are tempted to buy these on Amazon, I get it but I have been burned before so buy your first product from Kerastase so that you can compare and know that you are getting the correct product from Amazon.

I do very little for my hair and I buy products at on clearance. I’d like a more sophisticated selection, so I’m going to look into these.
Thanks for the comment! Good product is a must! Not going to lie, it was tough to pay a lot at first but purchase it slowly (thermal protectant first) and I promise it will be worth it and last forever since very little is needed.
